About the Role
Pharmaron is looking to recruit an Associate Chemist to join our Tritium team in Cardiff. In this role, you will contribute to the preparation and manufacture of radiolabelled compounds, supporting both business and client requirements. You will apply your technical knowledge and laboratory skills to help deliver high-quality products safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is eager to develop technical expertise in radiochemistry and gain experience working in a fast-paced, highly specialised environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Operations
· Prepare products and coordinate activities involved in the custom manufacture of a wide variety of radiolabelled compounds.
· Complete allocated work efficiently, tidily, and within agreed timelines, under overall guidance from the Team Leader.
· Plan your workload effectively, utilising downtime productively and identifying additional tasks to minimise dead time.
· Contribute to process and procedural improvements, taking on authorised improvement projects and supporting the Team Leader in identifying opportunities.
Technical & Documentation
· Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and records to meet quality standards.
· Produce high-quality experimental reports that support delivery of client work.
· Ensure correct processing, recording and transfer of waste in line with documented procedures.
Safety & Compliance
· Comply with laboratory safety policies and site ISO standards at all times.
· Ensure all work complies with regulations, company policies, SOPs and GMP expectations.
· Report any unsafe practices, equipment issues or instrument defects promptly to management.
Teamwork & Site Support
· Support the effective running of the Tritium team and Chemistry group by maintaining excellent housekeeping and assisting with general laboratory duties.
· Build positive working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
· Undertake additional duties or projects as requested by the Team Leader to support departmental performance.
Candidate Profile
· BSc/MSc/MChem in Chemistry
· Experience of chemistry within industry is advantageous.
· Strong practical laboratory skills with a keen interest in synthetic chemistry.
· Excellent attention to detail, accurate record-keeping and a conscientious approach to laboratory work.
· Good organisational skills with the ability to work to deadlines and manage your own workload.
· A team-player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
· Demonstrates good written and verbal communication.
· Familiarity with working to written procedures and compliance systems is advantageous.
