Associate Principal Scientist, Analytical Chemistry

As an Associate Principal Scientist, you will apply your analytical chemistry skills and your proficiency in HPLC and other analytical techniques to characterize APIs, intermediates, and starting materials. You will be involved in the full analytical workflow, from developing and validating analytical methods, to providing analytical support and guidance to chemistry projects, to reporting data and findings to clients in team meetings. You will also collaborate effectively with process chemistry colleagues and demonstrate good problem-solving and organizational skills. Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Developing, troubleshooting and validating HPLC and other analytical methods.
  • Leading analytical project teams working to tight deadlines.
  • Planning their and other peoples work and prioritising as necessary with the minimum level of supervision.
  • Implement new analytical techniques to support projects.
  • Ability to solve multiple complex scientific problems.
  • Able to work effectively in a GMP laboratory.
  • Present and communicate clearly and effectively with clients.
  • Lead and mentor other more junior members of staff. 

Requirements:

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline with several years’ experience in an Analytical Chemistry laboratory.
  • An expert in troubleshooting and developing HPLC methods or other separation techniques such as SFC and/or GC.
  • In-depth, hands-on expertise and up-to-date knowledge of other analytical methodologies.
  • Clear understanding of the drug development process.
  • Ability to lead projects and mentor or supervise junior members of the department.
  • Strong scientific record of accomplishment.

Pharmaron Hoddesdon campus consists of several purpose built scientific and administrative buildings together with a conference area, canteen, carparking and onsite GYM facilities. The chemistry research building has more than 5,000m2 of premier R&D space and houses an established Process Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Material Sciences and Drug Discovery teams. A Product Development team is also collocated on site together with a DMPK team. The Hoddesdon site has state-of-the-art Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standard facilities for the development of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Product Development (FD) and Analytical Chemistry (AC). We offer our employees a highly supportive team-work environment, enabling them to develop and liberate their true potential.

The Analytical Chemistry (AC) Team at the Hoddesdon site supports the chemistry functions and our science partners with advanced analytical solutions that help deliver our clients’ programmes and ultimately progress medicines to the market. Having recently undergone a period of growth and expansion with the construction of a new laboratory containing over 50 fume hoods, we are looking for Senior Analytical Scientists with a background in Analytical Chemistry.
