Requirements:
  • PhD or equivalent experience in relevant scientific discipline, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Multi-year experience working in DMPK drug discovery and development projects with a track record of delivery.
  • In depth understanding of DMPK science with additional knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Experience of working within matrix teams.
  • Expertise in problem solving across DMPK/ADME applied to drug discovery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
  • Experience in PK, PKPD or PBPK modelling would be advantageous.
Key roles and responsibilities:
  • As the frontline DMPK discipline contact, provide leadership, design and successful delivery of DMPK, PKPD, modelling and progression strategies for multiple small molecule drug discovery projects from hit-finding through to candidate selection.
  • Work collaboratively internally as part of cross discipline matrix teams and with our client partners in the design, identification and optimisation of candidate molecules.
  • Presentation of plans, strategy and achievements to external partners and internal stakeholders including local and global senior management.
  • Assist in the procurement of new business through provision of strategic DMPK requirements to new business proposals
  • Ensure delivery of project goals through interpretation of results and integration of data with other disciplines. This includes, but is not limited to optimisation of ADME and PK properties, DDI assessments, formulation recommendations, PKPD and PBPK modelling.
  • Ensure robust estimations of human PK and dose prediction from early in a project lifecycle through to candidate nomination to guide project direction and clinical potential.
  • Provide disciplinary scientific leadership and expert technical direction across the department and apply innovation to problem solving and enhancement to DMPK services within Pharmaron.
  • Supervision or mentoring of other DMPK colleagues

The Drug Discovery department, based in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, UK provides world-class drug discovery leadership to our partners in the life-science industry. As trusted collaborators, and in synergy with the capabilities and resources of the global Pharmaron group, this multi-disciplinary science team delivers quality, small-molecule preclinical candidates across a diversity of therapeutic areas and routes of administration.   
With a track record of delivering small molecules to the candidate nomination milestone and the clinic the experienced Hoddesdon team provides leadership, strategy, molecule design and project oversight.  
This expertise coupled with the extensive capabilities of Pharmaron worldwide platforms for experimental delivery has created a unique and exciting business model.
With a rapidly expanding department and portfolio the Drug Discovery DMPK function is seeking individuals who have a passion for leading DMPK science in discovery projects and who can strengthen the capabilities of our research teams.  
As a DMPK Project Director you will provide expert opinion, guidance and delivery of DMPK, ADME and PKPD science to integrated small molecule projects.  The successful candidate will lead the DMPK input into integrated project teams, have access to state of the art modelling and prediction software and work directly with our client partners and our China based departments to drive project progression.   
In addition, the successful candidate will bring their own expertise and innovation to enhance overall Pharmaron DMPK capability.
