About the Role

We are recruiting for an Engineering Lead - (Instrumentation & Controls) to provide Site wide specialist technical support within their field of expertise, as an active member of the engineering team. Advise, lead, and consult on engineering activities, ensuring they are carried out and documented in compliance with relevant SOP’s and GMP requirements. This associate role requires the incumbent to work closely with the Engineering Manager regarding their personal development relating to line managing skills in order to progress to the lead role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct and allocate technicians resource within multiskilled (instrumentation) teams, ensuring an efficient and effective support service is provided.
  • Conduct routine planned, and unplanned maintenance work, ensuring all work is completed as per schedule, and is documented consistently and compliantly, ensuring all engineering documents are audit ready. 
  • Respond appropriately to emergency breakdowns across site where technical support is required to repair equipment, machinery etc. with minimal impact on operations. 
  • Liaise with all people that might be impacted by the work, affording them the opportunity here possible, to minimize disruptions and keeping them informed of progress and expected completion targets.
  • Liaise with the various departments and plan in the most efficient and least interruptive way, the co-ordination and execution of plant shutdowns and start ups. 
  • Ensure that all work is carried out to the highest standards of safety and be proactive in addressing potential issues of hazard and risk and reporting such issues to management for prompt action.
  • Support both internal and external audits for both legislative and regulatory compliance as the engineering specialist in their field.
  • Support standardisation of equipment and spares, ensuring obsolescence and critical spares are managed. 
  • Propose and support creation, modification and deletion of preventative maintenance job plans to ensure the Site maintenance strategy remains current and appropriate for the installed equipment and plant on the Hoddesdon Site.

Candidate Profile

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) in electrical, mechanical, or 

    controls/instrumentation engineering disciplines

  • An appropriate qualification in a second, complementary engineering discipline.

  • Formal Apprenticeship in an engineering discipline

  • Minimum of 10yrs in the Health & Chemical Industry

  • Broad knowledge of Engineering disciplines

  • Understanding of GxP principles

  • Mechanical & Electrical qualifications

  • Leadership skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Engineering ONC
  • Engineering HNC
  • Worked within the Public & Private sectors
