We are seeking a Lab Services Operative to join our Facilities Management team at our Hoddesdon site. In this role, you will help ensure that our laboratories run efficiently by supporting stock replenishment, waste collection, glassware cleaning, and general laboratory services. Your work will directly support scientific teams and contribute to maintaining a safe, organised and compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Services & Stock Management

  • Receive and triage all goods delivered to site and distribute to end‑users.
  • Fulfil requests for materials, equipment and consumables for laboratory areas.
  • Ensure stockrooms are replenished and maintain tidy, organised storage conditions.
  • Deliver items to originators or designated storage locations.
  • Refill laboratory solvent wash bottles and support additional lab service requirements.
  • Collect, sort and replenish lab coats to maintain continuous availability.
  • Carry out cleaning and glassware support tasks as required.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with laboratory teams.

Waste Management

  • Safely collect and remove hazardous and non‑hazardous laboratory waste.
  • Prepare waste for onward processing in accordance with site and regulatory procedures.

Housekeeping & Compliance

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in lab support areas.
  • Report any cleaning needs or equipment issues promptly to the Supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Follow all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and work according to SOPs.
  • Maintain your training file and support continuous improvement activities.

Experience

Desirable:

  • Experience within a scientific, GMP or laboratory environment.
  • Understanding of safe handling practices, waste processes and laboratory housekeeping.
  • Experience with Forklift truck

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong awareness of safety procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical working style.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage changing priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good stakeholder relationship management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
