Molecular Biology Scientist
12 Month Fixed Term Contract
 
We are looking for:
A Molecular Biology Scientist, to be part of a dynamic and collaborative team that supports the development and manufacturing of innovative biopharmaceuticals. You will apply your expertise in molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, ddPCR, sequencing, and residual DNA analysis to perform analytics that ensure the quality and safety of our products. You will also work closely with other scientists to transfer and optimize analytical methods for non-GMP and cGMP testing.

Requirements:
  • BSc science graduate (or equivalent) with biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical experience
  • Working knowledge of analytical techniques including Molecular Biology (qPCR, ddPCR, sequencing, residual DNA)
  • Proven industrial experience within the biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical industry (gene therapy most ideal). Working in analytical development, performing method development, equipment qualification, phase appropriate validation and testing
Key roles and responsibilities:
  • Sets exemplary standards within the laboratory and facility in compliance with Development, Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures.
  • Supports Project leads on delivery of internal and Client-based work packages through the planning, design, delivery and reporting of activities within the analytical laboratories to meet project timelines in line with policies and procedures. Ensure maintenance of stock reagents and consumables and laboratory housekeeping for all work performed.
  • Prepares and executes a range of documentation including but not limited to development reports, operating procedures, phase appropriate validation, analytical proformas and test records in a timely manner with a right first-time mind set.
  • Drives 5S and operational excellence initiatives as a means for continuous improvement to ensure that department is a high performing team.
  • Leads on the delivery of new capital equipment items and train others in procedures, techniques, equipment, and technologies to increase Biologics Development analytical capabilities.
  • Analyses any investigation data to a high standard and ensure that protocols and procedures are delivered with a high attention to detail.
  • Completes all laboratory or batch related documentation in a timely and compliant manner, participating in reviews of the documentation to obtain quality sign off when necessary.
  • Subject matter expert in areas relating to analytical development, including but not limited to core technologies, characterisation and cell and analytical molecular biology and additionally GMP analysis. 
  • Provides periodic cover outside of normal working hours for essential operations when required by the business. 
  • Performs all activities in accordance with regulatory, quality and EHS requirements.
  • Expands expertise in areas relating to analytical development, core technologies, characterisation, cell and analytical molecular biology or GMP analysis.  
  • Respects the confidentiality of information obtained in the course of duties performed and refrain from disclosing such information without written consent from Management, except where disclosure is required by law or by the order of a Court.
