We are looking for a Purchasing and Stores Supervisor to coordinate the day-to-day Purchasing and Stores operation and support the Purchasing and Stores Manager. Ensuring materials, chemicals and consumables are received, stored and distributed safely and efficiently. Maintain accurate stock control while promoting compliant and effective working practices across the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily team activities and maintain operational cover.
- Support team training, development and adherence to agreed procedures.
- Oversee the safe receipt, recording and distribution of goods.
- Coordinate chemical deliveries, courier bookings and waste solvent collections.
- Manage purchase orders, follow up with suppliers and escalate supply risks.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, goods receiving and stock records.
- Monitor stock levels, complete stocktakes and investigate discrepancies.
- Compare supplier quotations and support best-value purchasing decisions.
- Promote safe, compliant and efficient working practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste and support sustainability.
Candidate Profile
- Experience within purchasing, stores, warehousing, stock control or a similar operational environment.
- Previous experience supervising, coordinating or supporting the work of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience using purchasing, inventory or goods receiving systems.
- Good attention to detail and confidence maintaining accurate records.
- The ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers and couriers.
- A proactive approach to resolving stock, delivery and supply issues.
- An understanding of safe working practices and the importance of following established procedures.
- Experience within a GMP, GCP, GLP or similarly regulated environment would be advantageous.
