Senior Director - Drug Product Development

Key roles and responsibilities:
- Provide scientific and organisational leadership of the Pharmaceutics functions, comprising Pre-formulation, Formulation Development, Scientific Project Leads, GMP Manufacturing and technical support teams, within Product Development.
- Drive talent acquisition and talent development processes to ensure high calibre staff are recruited, trained and developed in their roles within Pharmaceutics functions. Leverage the performance review system to elevate performance and engagement such that collectively and individually, potential is fully realised.
- Deliver Client projects to client timeline and budget expectations. Plan and prioritise team workload to ensure all milestones are delivered on time, right the first time and to client satisfaction.
- Collaborate with Project Management and other stakeholder functions to align priorities and project timelines. Communicate progress regularly and effectively, addressing any queries and managing any escalations.
- Manage Department resources and budget to Pharmaron financial expectations and performance targets. Report performance to KPIs to Senior Management as required. Identify and drive initiatives that improve performance improvement in KPIs.
- Support business development by contributing to Client due diligence and quotation development processes. Provide scientific input to ensure proposed technical scopes of work meet client expectations for delivery and enhance Pharmaron’s reputation for scientific excellence.
- Host client visits and participate in quality audits as required.
- Build Product Development technical capability and expertise through timely delivery of Capex investment initiatives, justification of investments in new relevant technologies and through proactive development of scientific resources within Product Development. Keep current on new technologies, identifying opportunities that will drive Pharmaron’s growth.
Requirements:
- A degree in relevant scientific discipline and a higher degree PhD in Pharmaceutical Science or relevant scientific discipline.
- Evidence of strong academic / industrial experience and achievement with at least 10 years in applicable role
- Evidence of successful application of technical skill sets to resolve high complexity formulation challenges
- Business Partnerships and Relationship Development by expert application of drug product design and development
- Evidence of ability to effectively lead staff
- Drug product development knowledge
- Sound knowledge of regulatory and CGMP requirements
- Highly commercially orientated, able to demonstrate how delivery excellence can create competitive advantage to deliver and sustain business growth
- Strong process orientation and ability to drive continuous improvement
- Cross functional project management
- Good scientific judgement
