Associate Director – Process Development & Manufacturing Group

Job Introduction

The Associate Director – Process Development & Manufacturing Group is a new role as part of a recent acquisition and strategic addition to Pharmaron’s global capability.
This role combines technical excellence and organisational leadership to ensure delivery of client APIs for phase II+, commercialisation and manufacturing campaigns. It requires technical passion and insight to positively influence the site and team culture as part of the Process Development and Manufacturing (PDM) Group.
   
 
Key Roles and Responsibilities: 
  • As part of the site management team, provide leadership and technical expertise for all aspects of new product introduction and existing chemical processes onsite
  • Represent Pharmaron with clients, external and internal collaborators and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage and build capability of a technical team of approx. 30 professional staff.
  • Lead the new product introduction of late stage and commercial small molecules and deliver across all stages of the process, meeting customer expectations.
  • Manage process engineering, development and qualification activities (e.g. definition of Critical Quality Attributes or ranges)
  • Oversee technical transfer of processes to large scale manufacturing facilities in UK, China and US ( and vice versa) as projects demand
  • Liaise with other departments on site to ensure efficient, safe and compliant chemical processing
  • Contribute to site technical, infrastructure and capability build projects
  • Author or approve technical reports
  • Driven and decisive action to establish new ways of working and best practices
 
Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills: 
  • PhD in Chemical/Process Engineering or Organic Chemistry
  • 10 years + in Large Pharmaceutical, Chemical or CDMO/CMO environment
  • Direct experience in late phase API process development and/or manufacturing.
  • Experience with regulatory agencies and external audits.
  • Experience leading and managing technical teams
  • Cross functional project management
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively present scientific findings to colleagues
  • Effective organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to effect cultural change
